Reading Rocks!!

"Ready…Set…Read"

Reading Rocks Program is a program whose mission is to help students K-4th grade develop a love and interest for reading

in an interactive, fun and interesting way. Family 2 Family is a strong believer in promoting literacy awareness in young

children. We feel as that reading is the most important skill young children acquire in school.

Our  Summer Reading  Program is operated by a staff of dedicated tutors, who works under the leadership of the director.

The program is offered to students on Saturday's and the program only allows 10 students per grade level.

Our goal is to provide all students with the following:

Increased Reading Ability: It's very important that your child be able to read well in order to do well in school, get

ahead in career, and function well in everyday life. Reading is a skill that people need every single day so putting your child

in a
foundational reading program that can give your child the tools to read better and understand more of what he or she

reads
can be a great way to prepare your child for the future.

Increased Confidence: When your child feels more confident reading and using language your child will be a lot more

confident in school, in activities, and in all the other areas of life.

Ultimately Better Grades: An education is important and no matter how smart your child is, if he or she can't read

well then they won't do well in school. Your child could end up being left back or could be singled out and put in special

remedial programs that would embarrass the child.

Our Approach:

At Family 2 Family we focus on making learning to read an enjoyable experience.  We want your child to look forward to

tutoring each week.  We accomplish this using a three-pronged approach.

1) Our Environment: Learning is easier when children are relaxed and in a good mood, so our environment helps set

the stage for success as soon as they come through our doors. We provide a comfortable, kid-friendly environment. Our

tutors always welcomes the students with a smile and a friendly attitude. We make reading fun because we understand that

no child wants to sit for tutoring in just another boring classroom after being at school all day.

2) Our Materials: Another way that we make tutoring enjoyable is through the teaching materials that we select. Whenever

possible, we use games to teach literacy skills, rather than boring worksheets. We also have far more flexibility to serve your

child than many of our competitors. Our tutors take time to hand-pick books for your child based on their reading level and

their interests, rather than having a required list of reading materials.  (i.e. if they like animals, we'll find books about

animals for them).

3) Our Teachers: Finally, we have an excellent staff of creative teachers and we allow them to adapt to your child's needs,

rather than having your child conform to a rigid program that may or may not be optimal for them.  Our teachers all have

"highly qualified" to help student reach his/her reading goal.  However, how we achieve those goals may be radically

different than many other tutoring services.

Our Process:

We begin with an initial assessment to help determine your child’s strengths and needs, followed by a conference with you to

explain the recommended course of action. From this, we develop an individualized lesson plan tailor-made to foster your

child's skills and abilities. Your child's tutor and the tutor coordinator will conduct on-going assessments and conferences

with you, as well as communication with your child's elementary school teacher.  We want to make sure we everyone

involved stay informed of your child’s progress. Our tutors work together to ensure your child is successful in reading, and

all learning adventures!

Thank you for your interest in our Summer  Reading Program. We are extremely excited about the opportunity to promote

literacy awareness in young children. We truly believe that our program will be an excellent way for children to become life

long readers.
